OPEN CALL! Storytelling Event.

Are you a hakawati (Arabic term for storyteller) at heart? Do you love sharing tales of adventure, romance, mystery and drama? Arabic storytelling has a long and rich history that dates back thousands of years. The hakawati would sit with an audience and weave a magical tale that transported them to a different time and place. And now we're bringing that tradition to Kippers in USF! 

Join us for our upcoming open mic event, where you can unleash your inner hakawati and share your favorite stories, poems, songs, and more! We welcome all storytellers, whether you're a seasoned performer or a first-time storyteller. And we welcome all languages as well! 

Our themes for the night are inspired by our film series, and we encourage stories that explore topics such as diaspora, love and lust, relationship to home, relationship to nature, and kicking patriarchy’s butt. However, don’t feel limited, and also share any tale that you'd like to tell.
