WELCOME TO ARABISK FILMFEST 2023:

We are thrilled to invite you to the 2023 edition of Arabisk filmfest, where we place a special emphasis on community and the collective film experience. There is something truly enchanting about sitting together, absorbing the narratives unfolding on the screen and sharing the emotions that it evokes with fellow viewers.

We want to encourage our audience to engage in post-screening conversations, where you can share your thoughts and engage in meaningful discussions. By fostering an open and inclusive environment, we hope to create a space where our visitors can feel welcome regardless of background and connect with each other and our team of dedicated volunteers who will be there to help facilitate conversations.

As each year, Arabisk filmfest offers an opportunity to explore a diverse array of genres, including drama, comedy, crime and documentaries, providing a unique perspective into a culture and a world that is often confined to the news in the West. This year, in addition to our standard program, we are introducing three new categories, namely Short film, Occupation, and Retrospective. With this, we aim to showcase a more diverse representation of the region and to exhibit films that would not have otherwise been screened in Norway. Short films allow new and seasoned filmmakers to experiment with new ideas and styles and push the boundaries of the medium even when resources and funding are limited. So we at Arabisk filmfest believe that it is extremely important to provide a platform for Arab filmmakers to highlight their work and gain exposure and recognition.
